Our Curriculum

When we began back in 2000, Fishtail Riding School wasn't a school at all: it was simply a group of friends riding together. As time went on, however, we started to use the time between sessions to hold classroom activities covering the basics of riding a motorcycle. Our attendees thought it was a great idea and every year the academics have become more refined and formalized into a regular school.

classroom

Over the last nine years we've learned what works and what doesn't. Our academics are presented in a simple, easy to understand format that allows you to focus on only a few things at a time. After each classroom session, you will back to the track and work on the new techniques. We always have instructors circulating on track to offer you as much or as little help as you want. Once back in the classroom, we have a brief review and then introduce you to a new skill.

Class sizes are limited so that we can keep the instructor-to-student ratio low. The small class size also means the track is less crowded, allowing you more freedom to ride at your pace.

Where We Ride: New Hampshire Motorspeedway

We operate our track school at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH. NHMS has a challenging 1.6 mile, 14 turn road course that rewards smooth, technical riding. It's a terrific place to hone your street riding skills as well as your track skills.

Our Workbook

We've decided to put our workbook on the site for download. By reviewing the workbook, you can see what we teach in the classroom and prepare for your event. Advance reading helps you to maximize your track day.

Most students find that the real learning from a track school comes in the days after the event when you have had time to digest the things you've learned and to practice them. We encourage students to review the workbook after their track day to get the maximum benefit from our program.

Our Instructors

Being fast doesn't necessarily mean you'll make a good instructor.  Many of our guys and gals have been with us for close to a decade, and we've chosen them for their ability and willingness to communicate what they're doing as well as their smoothness around the track.  Backgrounds run the gamut from national and local race champions to professional teachers, so no matter what your skill level, we've got instructors who can work with you.
